“Preparations for the 52nd Korean Festival Are on Track” … First Board Meeting of the Year Held
Execution of First Trial Ruling Suspended, Current Board Maintains Leadership “K-Pop and Agricultural Expo to Make the Festival Even More Vibrant”
The Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation (LAKFF· President Alex Cha) held the 2025 Annual General Meeting on Thursday, February 13, at 11 AM to discuss the preparations for the upcoming 52nd Korean Festival, scheduled for October this year.
This board meeting was convened following the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s decision on January 28 to delay the execution of the first trial ruling until the appellate court ruling is finalized.
Previously, the Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation (LAKFF) had filed a request with the LA County Superior Court in October of last year to suspend the execution of the first trial ruling regarding the board member composition until the appellate court’s decision was made. Generally, when an appeal is filed, execution of the ruling is automatically suspended in certain cases. However, for some rulings, a separate request for suspension of execution is necessary.
The court accepted the LAKFF’s request for a stay of execution and decided on January 28 to postpone the execution of the ruling until the appeal is concluded.
As a result, the 52nd Los Angeles Korean Festival, which will be held for four days from October 16 to 19 at Seoul International Park, will be organized by the current board as planned.
LAKFF President Alex Cha stated, “Thanks to the court’s decision, we were able to start preparing for the festival early this year. We will do our best to make it an even better and more enriching festival than last year.”
Event Preparations in Full Swing
During the board meeting, members reviewed the festival venue setup and stage installations, as well as the various programs scheduled to take place during the event. Discussions also covered the status of booth reservations for the 19th Korean Agricultural & Fisheries Expo and the K-Food booths.
According to the Festival Foundation (LAKFF), the first round of applications for the Agricultural Expo booths has already received over 140 applications, and more than half of the food and snack booths have been reserved.
Most notably, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) is participating as a sponsor for the first time this year. Additionally, neighborhood councils near Koreatown that joined the festival for the first time last year have confirmed their participation again this year, indicating smooth progress in event preparations.
Furthermore, discussions were held regarding a special performance featuring Hallyu stars to continue the K-pop fever, the Miss High Teen USA pageant, and a Taekwondo demonstration, among other programs.
President Alex Cha stated, “The first round of booth applications has already attracted over 140 applications from Korean government offices. Attendees will once again be able to enjoy a variety of authentic hometown flavors this year.” He further emphasized, “The response from last year’s participating neighborhood councils and sponsors has been overwhelmingly positive. We aim to make this festival an inclusive event where neighboring communities of Koreatown can all take part together.”
The 52nd Korean Festival will take place from October 16 to 19 at Seoul International Park.
